Our Story
Autumn Press was founded by Jamie-Lee Day in 2018. Jamie-Lee is an ambitious and driven English and Psychology major who has always had a passion for reading and communicating through writing. Her writing career officially began in 2016 with an internship at a media company and has grown tremendously since then. Her diverse interests - sports, health, culture, music, art, animals and more - enable her to connect easily with a variety of different topics.
Autumn Press came about upon Jamie-Lee's return from travelling in the U.K. Suddenly surrounded again by her incredible city reminded her of all the opportunities that Capetonians have available to them on their doorstep. Having rediscovered her passion for Cape Town, she was itching to share her hometown's splendour with the world by way of writing. Her aim was to provide a platform where people could be reminded of the beauty of the people, the culture, the nature and the opportunities around them and shift away from the negativity that we pay too much attention to.

Autumn is the season of change. It's the season of renewal. It's the season of bursts of colour and bearing of fruit. Autumn is about positive growth and progress. But Autumn, for me, is more than a fleeting time period that visits briefly before winter.
It is the season I look forward to the most. I love the mild temperatures with the spontaneous days of sudden heat and days with a bite in the air, mirroring the ups and downs of life. I love the dappled light through the trees that enflame the reds, oranges and browns of the leaves. I love how the colours blend so perfectly and enliven one another. How the greens are suddenly replaced by fall colours that hover until eventually shedding to make space for the new.
For me, Autumn is a symbol of hope, happiness, kindness and warmth - basically the things I would like to project through my blog and allow to filter through my life.
